Tuesday, 31 December 2013

I closed the year with a healthy day. I started with scrambled egg whites with onions and spinach then greek yogurt with berries and crystal light berry crystals.
Mid morning snack was greek yogurt then lunch was a veggie salad with chicken strips.
Supper was baked wild salmon and roast veggies (carrots, cauliflower, onions and peppers. A juicy grapefruit finished off the day and year.

Monday, 30 December 2013

OK I have been on vacation in Turkey the past 2 weeks and have not had regular access to posting and internet and such but I am back. To some up the past 2 weeks of food I ate some Turkish, some Greek, some fat, some slim, some crap and some not. There you go folks.
I am now back in my home eating a bowl of 7 grain cereal for breakfast and feeling virtuoso about it. I also ate a piece of Turkish fruit leather with walnuts in it.
My virtuous eating took a nose dive after getting to work. I ate several Turkish delight candies then had leftover spaghetti for lunch. After lunch I caved into the ubiquitous treats-- chocolates, cookies, cheezies, etc. I stopped the fatness at 3 when I left work and went for a long walk. then I went grocery shopping for decent food. While making a salad for work I munched on raw veggies and ate a few more pieces of the Turkish fruit leather. its done now and I am ready for better days ahead .

Monday, 16 December 2013

I am on my way to Turkey courtesy of Arkas sport (my son's volleyball team). I had 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and jelly to start this exciting journey.

Sunday, 15 December 2013

I had company for dinner tonight. I made lasagna and roast vegetables. The guests bought the rest. I had a moderate serving of lasagna, and roast vegetables, Caesar salad, 2 stuffed mushrooms and 2 pieces of pumpkin cake for dessert.

Saturday, 14 December 2013

Another day to be home and run errands and do home type stuff. I started the stomach portion of my day with 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and jelly and a half slice of bread with cheese. As soon as daylight comes I will be out for a walk.
2 apples and a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch.
I cooked a turkey for the church Christmas party then made stuffing. I had a few bites of the stuffing while making it.
At the dinner I ate a small piece of turkey breast, and small serving of mashed potatoes, 3 pickles and a wheat bun. For dessert I had a piece of sugar free berry cheesecake, a piece of pecan pie, a piece of pecan cake, (I was focused on the nuts, thinking they were a healthier option than the Nanaimo bars) and then I had a small piece of almond roca, a cookie, and a piece of pumpkin cake. I think I am done now.

Friday, 13 December 2013

I am having a wonderful day off at home catching up with my home life. I had 7 grain cereal with dates and maple syrup for breakfast then worked at shoveling out my house for a few hours then had toast (2 slices) with peanut butter and jelly for lunch along with a carrot. I am now going to have a nap.
After a nap and some more cleaning I ate a few raw cashews and a fiber one bar.
Supper was quinoa pasta with tomato sauce some cheese and broccoli. Dessert was 2 mints.
Bedtime snack; 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and jelly. I like my toast.

Thursday, 12 December 2013

I ate 7 grain cereal with dates and maple syrup for breakfast. Life is much better with sleep and no sugar. I had a 6" turkey subway for lunch and a small bag of sun chips. The sandwich wasn't that good. I had a handful of trail mix too.
For supper I ate the other half of my subway sandwich but not all of it. It wasn't that good. And I had another handful of trail mix and a small bag of baked chips.
I worked late then went to my CHIP meeting where we ate mashed potatoes, veggie chili, and some beet vegetable dish. And a slice of whole grain bread. I didn't eat it all. too full.

Wednesday, 11 December 2013

Bad night. Gut rumbling all night. Will I ever learn? Anyway today I ate raw cashews and a cheese sandwich for breakfast. Beans and rice soup with cheese slices for lunch. A handful of  trail mix and  small bag of baked chips for afternoon snack.
Had dinner with friends-- rice, chicken, mixed veggies and a skinny cow ice cream sandwich for dessert. Thankfully I haven't eaten anything since 6 and heading to bed.

Tuesday, 10 December 2013

Seven grain cereal with dates for breakfast and off to work with good food packed to keep me eating well for the day. Grain is the staff of life.
I ate all my packed food and more. I have pistachios and a banana for my mid-morning snack. Then I ate black bean and rice soup and carrot sticks. a friend gave me 4 gin gin candies which I ate quickly.
During my afternoon meeting I ate 3 chocolates that were there on the table. Then I ate a small piece of spicy plum loaf.
For supper I had a cheese sandwich and bowl of dried apples and 2 mints. I feel bloated.
And another banana.
And then a couple pieces of cheese.

Monday, 9 December 2013

So today I am going back to the hot cereal option and ate 7-rain cereal with dates and maple syrup and a banana for breakfast. I have an ant problem that I need to deal with rather than just ignore, deny, avoid etc. Must figure that out today before they totally take over my kitchen.
I ate a handful of veggie chips morning snack then ate a whole grain rice bowl for lunch and some carrot sticks.
Mid afternoon I ate 2 pieces of cheese and a handful of trail mix then another piece of cheese and a banana after work before heading out to finish my grand daughter's quilt. I also had a piece of spicy plum loaf that someone made for the nursing staff.
I had supper out-- a piece of chicken, spoonful of beans, small potato and then a piece of pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing.
I lost my cell phone and couldn't find it when I got home this evening so I ate a cheese sandwich. Not sure what I thought that would do. But I found my cell phone after eating it so it must have worked.

Sunday, 8 December 2013

After fasting I ate a banana and a cheese sandwich. There's nothing like a cheese sandwich. Then I ate a modest bowl of veggie chips-- crunchy and tasty.

Saturday, 7 December 2013

I spent the day in Spokane with friends. We planned to leave at 0730. I woke up at 0727 threw on some clothes and was out the door at 0734. I did not comb my hair.
So I ate dried apples on the way to Spokane. Did not have food again until we were at the church book store where they served free chocolate covered cinnamon bears. I ate 3. By the time we had lunch it was 3:00 p.m. when we stopped at Panda express. I ate a plate of brown rice, green beans with chicken and beef broccoli. My fortune cookie said that I should listen to my heart. I listened but it wasn't saying anything.
At Costco I ate some cheese and cracker samples. A few hours later I had a bag of almonds then half a turkey sandwich. Got home late after 11 p.m. and ate 3 slices of reduced fat Swiss cheese. I am now off to bed.

Friday, 6 December 2013

It is very cold today, and I will try not to let the cold be an excuse to pig out on sugar today. Just for today. I ate 3 scrambled eggs for breakfast, and a handful of raw cashews and dried apples.
Midmorning I ate 2 oranges and 2 wheat thin crackers. Lunch was a tuna sandwich.
Afternoon snacks included some corn chips, almonds, caramel popcorn and 4 chocolates and some trail mix. My colleagues are too generous with their treats.
After work I got a hot chocolate at 7-11 while gassing up my car. Then I went to host at our church crèche and ate  5 shortbread cookies while there. And now I am done.

Thursday, 5 December 2013

This morning I had a handful of raw cashews and dried apples on the way to work. For lunch I ate a bowl of spicy black bean soup and 2 pieces of cheese. I got out of hand this afternoon and ate 2 jujubes, 4 chocolates, 3 sweet squares of some sort, an orange and some fresh raspberries. And a few pieces of cheese with crackers. After work I went out to a family baptism and ate a rice krispie square, chocolate brownie and chocolate chip cookie. I think I am done for now.

Wednesday, 4 December 2013

I had tuna in my head this morning so I ate a can of tuna for breakfast and 2 chocolate chip cookies. Random, I know.
Later in the morning I ate a few corn chips that were at work and a piece of cheese. For lunch I ate  a cheese and lettuce sandwich and cabbage salad.
After work I ate 4 chocolate chip cookies, then had appointments after which I ate a turkey sandwich and went quilting until bedtime. I am done now and grateful that I didn't eat any shortbread today.

Tuesday, 3 December 2013

Insomnia last night-- bracing myself for a difficult food day. I started with 3 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jelly. I hope  this will keep me from eating until lunch when I will crack open another can of spicy bean soup and pound back some cabbage salad.
I couldn't get an IV started so I ate some stale popcorn left over from night shift. And I ate a reeses peanut butter cup.
I ate the spicy black bean soup and cabbage salad for lunch. Before that I ate 3 oranges and the rest of that chocolate bar I started at work yesterday. And I ate a couple mints.
On the way home I ate 4 shortbread cookies. They're supposed to be for our church crèche display this weekend so I better stop eating them. Then I went out for lovely walk in the sunny crisp air and now I am eating dried apples and pistachios for supper.
I was out for the evening and had a hot chocolate, fiber 1 bar and 2 chocolate chip cookies. I officially have a belly ache.

Monday, 2 December 2013

Lovely snowfall going on this morning as I prepare myself for another shift in the emergency department. Breakfast is my usual 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jelly and I have added a handful of pistachios.
Nothing until lunch when I ate a serving of baked salmon and cabbage salad.
My afternoon binge kind of got away with me. I ate 2 packages of low fat snack bites then 4 mandarin oranges.
Supper was a bowl of spicy black bean soup and some more cabbage salad and 2 pieces of cheese. Some chocolate was calling my name and I succumbed to 12 small pieces of lindor chocolate bar. Then I ate a piece of shortbread. I have brushed my teeth and called a stop now I am home and away from the treats that torment me in my work place.

Sunday, 1 December 2013

My Sabbath fast ended at 6:30 p.m.  and I ate a serving of baked salmon, a veggie salad, 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jelly and some dried apples as a bedtime snack. I am done now.

Saturday, 30 November 2013

Ah nuts. I am working a 12 hour day shift today on my day off, so here I am going off to work again. I am starting with a decent breakfast. Some leftover salmon from last night and 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jelly. CHIP says to eat  like a king at breakfast, so I am eating lots in hopes of deferring an afternoon slouch and binge.
While running around in a very busy emergency department this morning I munched on trail mix while visions of chocolate bars danced in my head. And I ate pat of a laughing cow piece of cheese which wasn't good so I didn't finish it. Thankfully there was no time to go in search of chocolate. One must be grateful for small things.
I am now eating a very nutritious lunch of spicy black bean soup and carrot sticks.
For an afternoon snack I had a piece of cheese and handful of almonds.
Supper was egg an egg sandwich. I also ate 3 small mints during the day and now I am done.

Friday, 29 November 2013

Today was kind of a grazing day not knowing really where any meal started or finished. I started with a handful of pistachios and raw cashews, and half an apple on the drive to work then ate a  bran muffin there and the yogurt with berries and crystal light berry crystals that I had planned for yesterday. Somewhere in the morning I ate a piece of cheese and another bran muffin and a chocolate chip cookie (it was the last one there and I had to get rid of it).
I was humoring a child of a patient and got him some pretzels and baked snack bites to eat. I ate most of them while he drew pictures.
Then I ate 3 chocolates that were there for flu clinic and headed home. I think I was stressed today because I felt inadequate for the pediatric simulation going on.
After I got home I ate some dried apples and went out for a walk. Supper was baked salmon and green salad.
Then I ate some more dried apples and 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and Oregon grape jelly. I think I am done now.
And somewhere in there I ate a granola bar leftover from the night shift and a hard cinnamon candy. I don't know why that came to mind at 4 a.m. but it did!

Thursday, 28 November 2013

And another day to eat and work and pray begins. I ate 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jelly for breakfast. I planned to eat a bowl of fat free greek yogurt with berries but ran out of time so will eat that for lunch.
Mid-morning I ate a handful of almonds, then 2 oatmeal muffins that my colleague made. She is always baking goodies to bring to work.
At lunch time there was a farewell luncheon for a colleague who retired. I attended that and ate a piece of pizza, 2 chicken wings a couple corn chips with salsa, several pieces of cheese, a sample of greek salad, and 3 chocolate chip cookie. By then I was stuffed and grateful to be distracted with work for the afternoon. As I left work at 5 p.m. I ate another 2 of the muffins then headed out to walk for an hour before going to a CHIP meeting. The food there was bean salad, quinoa salad, sauerkraut salad and carob cookie. I had a moderate sampling of each and am now pounding back some dried apples. Tomorrow is fresh with no calories in it.

Wednesday, 27 November 2013

A poor sleep leads to poor food planning and poor food planning leads to poor eating which leads to poor sleep. I didn’t have time for breakfast so I ate an apple and a handful of raw cashews and almonds. Mid morning I ate some dried mangoes that my collegue brought. At lunch I ate my instant bean soup and 2 pieces of cheese.
I worked overtime to look after a laboring patient. Had no supper planned so ate 2 bran muffins at work then headed out to a bridal shower right after work. I ate some dried apples on the way then at the shower I ate 4 mini quiches, a few raw veggies and dip and 4 oatmeal dried fruit cookies and I ate a mint. Tomorrow is fresh with no fat in it.

Tuesday, 26 November 2013

Back to work today fueled with 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and my jelly dried apples and a few raw cashews. For lunch I am taking spicy white bean soup.
I ate my bean soup for lunch then a colleague brought in some butter tarts and peanut butter marshmallow squares. Before the afternoon was over I had eaten 1 butter tart and 3 of the peanut butter squares as well as a handful of almonds.
For supper I ate 2 flax buns with Havarti dill cheese. Some days you just got to eat cheese.
My bedtime snack was another piece of cheese and a handful of dried apples.

Monday, 25 November 2013

Mondays are no big deal anymore now that I work part time and will have Mondays off unless I choose to pick up work on those days. I had a leisurely morning starting with my usual spiritual pursuits in scripture prayer and pondering.  Breakfast was 2 slices of toast (it goes without saying that any bread I have in the house is high fiber, multigrain etc) with peanut butter and my own Oregon grape jelly. I munched on a few dried apples and am now going to head out for a super walk.
After my walk I ate an apple and went out to a friend's to work on the quilt I am making for my granddaughter. I ate an apple on the way out. Her husband made lunch for us. French toast with turkey and mozzarella cheese.
Later I munched on dried apples then had a skinny cow ice cream sandwich. Then my friend's husband brought out skinny cow ice-cream bars and we ate those too. Supper was also there-- rice, squash, chicken, bean salad and trifle for dessert. I have had enough for the day after quilting most of the day.

Sunday, 24 November 2013

My gratitude fast ended at 6 p,m. today when I went to a birthday dinner for friends. I ate a small piece of lemon chicken and a smaller piece of sweet and sour chicken, a scoop of mashed potatoes, a scoop of steamed squash, a green salad and a piece of homemade black forest cake. I ate a few dried apples on the drive there and back. Life is good. Three different women at church commented on my tiny size. Keep moving and keep eating moderately.

Saturday, 23 November 2013

I am setting out early today to set up shop at the local community craft fair selling and signing books. To fuel the morning I am eating a bowl of boiled wheat with honey and cinnamon.
Ok, now I have experienced an all day craft sale selling my books. I sold 14 books. While I was there I ate some carrot sticks, pistachios, a trail mix muffin and cashews. I also ate 4 mints because I had them to give out to people. Visited with a lot of people and saw some that I have not seen in decades. Tired when I got home and ate 2 garden burgers and called it a day as far as digestion goes.

Friday, 22 November 2013

I did a variation on my wheat thing this morning. No work today so I had time to play with my food. I made a wheat omelet of sorts. I put the boiled wheat in a blender with 2 eggs, some spices, and green onions, blended them together then fried in olive oil. It was sort of like a pancake with onions and garlic powder. I didn't know if I should put syrup on it or ketchup (and I never eat ketchup). Anyway I ate it as is, but think I might be onto something like a new type of super food pancake. Tomorrow I may try it again without the spices and eat it like a pancake with honey or something. Either that or I won't.  I pounded back a few dried apples because they were in my field of vision and called breakfast done. Now I am going out for an extreme walk if its not too cold.
My lunch was 2 garden burgers and a pile of fresh carrots a few dried apples and pistachios.
After a few hours of quilting I ate a handful of dried apples then headed home to eat the leftover quinoa salad. Not exactly a warm comfort food for a cold day but nutritious just the same.

Thursday, 21 November 2013

Its cold outside. -10. I ate a hearty breakfast of boiled wheat with stevia and almond milk then 2 pieces of toast with 2 fried eggs. I feel ready to face the weather.
Morning snack—apple
Lunch—more lentil veggie soup. Be still my rumbling gut. I think that is the last of the soup for now. When  you live alone and make a big pot of soup that's what you eat for many days!
And some grapes and a bran muffin to further exacerbate the turmoil within.
Afternoon snack—2 pieces of cheddar cheese and handful of almonds.
Supper was black bean and quinoa salad and dried apples. Day is done and so is my mouth.

Wednesday, 20 November 2013

My wheat belly is looking not too bad. I ate a bowl of boiled wheat with maple syrup and almond milk and a splash of ground flax for breakfast -- and an apple.
Midmorning snack—apple and date.
More tempting trays of goodies surrounding me at work.
Lunch—lentil soup, fresh grapes, pineapple, melon pieces.
Handful of almonds.
Fresh fruit snacking—a sample of fruit dip that my colleague made – too sweet. I said “why does fruit need dip? It defeats the purpose of eating fruit as a healthy snack.” No response. Ate a few raw veggies—no dip and a bran muffin. Does abundance suck?
Late afternoon slump binge—2 cookies, a piece of shortbread, one gingerbread man, a Nanaimo bar, and a chocolate kiss and that’s done I hope.
After work I went to a church women's Christmas craft party. I ate more lentil soup and 3 pieces of whole wheat bread, and 2 date caramel bars. By the end of the party my gut was rumbling so bad that I turned down the homemade shortbread. And that's one bad day of eating gone.

Tuesday, 19 November 2013

I am battling the trend to hunker down and eat as the days get shorter and the nights get longer. Today for breakfast I am eating a bowl of boiled wheat with ground flax, maple syrup, and almond milk with some raw cashews thrown in and a few dried apples on the side. I don't know if its the breakfast of champions or chubbies! Time will tell.
I ate a handful of almonds for my mid-morning snack.
The family of a patient here brought in a lovely huge basket of goodies for the nursing staff. I know. I know! This is an obesagenic work environment. Thankfully there were nutritious options in the basket as well as the chocolate options. I ate a date and an apple with my lunch which was a bowl of bean soup. Thankfully the sun was shining at noon so I went out for a good walk on my lunch break.
Later in the afternoon I ate 2 bananas and a barely-there mini orange. Now it is pouring rain and all I want to do is curl up and sleep but that wouldn’t look too good in the workplace.
I ate 2 pieces of cheese and 2 bananas then a bran muffin-- gut rumbling big time.
I am now home eating 3 pieces of toast with peanut butter.
and then I finished that off with a handful of dried apples which did not help my rumbling gut.

Monday, 18 November 2013

I woke up early but went back to sleep so was rushed this morning. I ate dried apples and almonds on the fly.
I thought that I had taken some of my homemade lentil soup for lunch today but realized when I went to get it that it was peanut butter. The soup was in a peanut butter container but in my flurry this morning I grabbed the peanut butter instead. So I had carrots and an avocado for lunch
A colleague had pity on me and gave me an apple and boiled egg. I added a piece of cheese.
For supper I had the lentil soup that was going to be lunch and a handful of dried apples.
And then I ate 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jelly.

Sunday, 17 November 2013

I am sitting in a hotel in Calgary eating a volleyball girl's leftovers. Greek yogurt with fresh strawberries and Honey Bunches of Oats thrown in. Hey! Hungry beggars cannot be choosers, although that's not really true. I could choose to stay hungry until I go out in the blizzard to my car and eat the carrots waiting there. They're probably frozen. I could also choose to fast but right now I am choosing to eat what's here in this hotel room. I am eating what is in front of me before hitting the road again to return to beautiful British Columbia.
Lunch on the road was a chicken wrap and hot chocolate. Snacks on the road were fresh raspberries (always good for low calorie munching) and almonds.
Stopped in Cranbrook to pee so bought a cliff bar and energy bar-- more out of duty to buy something because I used the washroom than out of hunger. And I think that was it today. Now I am off to my overeaters anonymous meeting and shutting down my digestive system for another day.

Saturday, 16 November 2013

On the road again. And without internet access until now so here goes the food report from yesterday and today. I was up early yesterday and headed out to Alberta so ate an apple on the road then had breakfast at Tim Horton's in the Crowsnest Pass-- a multigrain bagel and a mint hot chocolate.
Lunch was grazing on more apples and carrots and almonds. I take carrots and apples to eat on the road to avoid nasty stuff like chips and crap.
Supper was at the University of Calgary food court. I had some Vietnamese grilled chicken and veggies. I got my credit card stuck in a parking pay machine so I ate a chocolate that my friend gave to me. Then I ate some trail mix while watching volleyball. And that was it for yesterday.
This morning I woke up to a blizzard in Calgary. Headed out to go to the temple, ate 2 apples, 2 carrots and a handful of almonds for breakfast.
I had lunch with my daughter's volleyball team-- an orange, grilled chicken breast with spinach salad, a white roll smothered in butter and fresh berries with frozen yogurt for dessert. I threw in a handful of trail mix somewhere there.
While watching volleyball I ate more trail mix, more than I needed which was likely none.

Thursday, 14 November 2013

Breakfast was 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and red plum jelly.
I attended an education seminar which provided lunch-- seafood sandwich and vegetable chowder. I wasn't totally content with it but that's what I ate anyway.
For supper I ate a bowl of my lentil soup with a green salad.
After a long walk I went to my CHIP meeting, forgetting that they had told us not to eat because a meal would be served. I ate the meal anyway-- brown rice and beans with salsa, avocado, and cheese sauce. It was all nutritious but too much just the same.
When I got home I ate a handful of dried apples. I hope they don't keep me awake because I have a big day ahead of me driving to Calgary to watch my baby play university volleyball.

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

I can tell that I ate too much sugar yesterday and cheese, however today is fresh with no binges in it. I ate 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and my homemade jelly for breakfast.
Lunch lentil soup, 3 carrots, then I ate a few dried apples, almonds, and a scrap of pumpkin bread. That was all that was left.
At weigh in I was up by a quarter of a pound so the cheese and bread and ice-cream etc have caught up with me. I had a cheese and avocado and sprouts sandwich and an apple for supper then pounded back the rest of the mozzarella cheese.
I hope I am done for the day.
I can tell that ate too much sugar yesterday and cheese, however today is fresh with no binges in it. I at 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and my homemade jelly for breakfast.

Tuesday, 12 November 2013

Back to work early this morning. I have eaten my breakfast 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and Oregon grape jelly and a slice of swiss cheese because I left it on the counter last night and it was in my direct field of vision.
I ate a handful of stale popcorn left over from nightshift because it was there. It probably had C-difficile contamination as well as the few almonds that were sitting in a bowl in the emergency department.
Lunch—my homemade lentil soup and 3 carrots and half an avocado. I have a colleague who eats an avocado every day and she is thin so I figure it must be the avocado!
I ate an apple then 3 chocolates sitting at the nurses’ station. I passed by them one too many times and then they were in my mouth (one at a time of course). Thankfully there was only 3 left so I could not eat a 4th. I am grateful for small blessings.
After work I ate a handful of dried apples and a skinny cow ice-cream sandwich then headed out for a long walk. I am now eating 2 rye crackers with swiss cheese.
I added a few more pieces of mozzarella cheese then a handful of raw cashews and another mint ice cream sandwich (skinny cow brand).

Monday, 11 November 2013

I am eating a bowl of boiled wheat with maple syrup, almond milk and cinnamon and it almost tastes like a cinnamon bun!
My boiled wheat kept me for the morning while I hung out in Sandpoint with my sisters and mother. We had lunch at the Panhandler. I had a frilled cheese veggie sandwich with rye bread and a green salad.
After another couple hours of snooping around Sandpoint I ate a handful of black bean, flax, quinoa chips exploding with nutrition.
Supper back home was a cheese and avocado sandwich and a carrot fresh from Moore's organic farm. I love their carrots.

Sunday, 10 November 2013

I made a lentil vegetable soup today and ate a bowl of that plus a carrot and apple and handful of dried apples so far today. Feeling virtuous.
I also ate a handful of raw cashews.

Saturday, 9 November 2013

I sleep so much better when I don't eat anything in the evening and I am grateful for a wonderful sleep last night and for the awesome day to the temple in Spokane that is ahead of me.
Breakfast: a lumpy fruit smoothie with boiled wheat, mixed berries, spinach, almond milk and a sample of strawberry flavored protein mix that someone gave me. I can manage my appetite as long as I don't eat anything that tastes good.
And then I ate a mandarin orange.
And headed off for the day. My midmorning snack was a handful of jalapeno almonds and a granola bar.
Lunch was a foot long veggie subway -- I didn't eat it all. I was actually full and listened to my body. Imagine that!

Friday, 8 November 2013

I ate a handful of raw cashews for breakfast then ate and orange and apple midmorning. Lunch was a cheese and lettuce sandwich on multigrain. I ate 2 pieces of bitter dark chocolate. I ate the second piece to see if it was as bad as the first piece and it was.
afternoon snack was a few dried apples and some more raw cashews then went for a lovely walk.

Thursday, 7 November 2013

Its a blizzard out there. Nevertheless, no excuse to eat comfort food.
I had a bowl of boiled wheat with almond milk and maple syrup and a throw of ground flax. Then I munched a handful of raw cashews and took a bite of a carrot while making my salad for lunch.
I had an apple midmorning then a green veggie salad with garbanzo beans for lunch.
This afternoon I ate 3 peanut butter oatmeal cookies that my colleague made. They were delicious.
And I ate a small piece of cheddar cheese.
Tonight I went out for a vegan feast. I ate a serving of pecan loaf, mashed potatoes with cashew sauce, and a green salad with nuts, beans, corn, and seeds topped with  mango dressing. I felt an urge to run away and get a mint oreo blizzard at the DQ but did not. I am happy to say I came home, had a nice hot bubble bath and headed to bed.
I forgot about the 2 pieces of multigrain bread with nut butter that I ate too.

Wednesday, 6 November 2013

First big snowfall last night. Something about waking up to snow increases the appetite somehow but I managed so far to keep it in check.
For breakfast I had an apple and some dried apples. I have a lot of apples! For lunch I had the rest of Sunday's greek salad and boiled wheat with quinoa and tomato sauce. Afternoon snack was another apple and a few more dried apples. Now I am lying down with my legs elevated in hopes that it will flush out another pound of water before my weigh in tonight.
the flush out didn't work. I weighed the same as last week. Ate a multigrain bun with chicken and lettuce-- felt sick again so didn't finish it.
Went quilting them came home and ate a few dried plums and apples.

Tuesday, 5 November 2013

I had a good food day today, cashews and boiled wheat with maple syrup for breakfast. Then squash and bean soup with a carrot for lunch, 2 apples for snacks somewhere in there. Didn't have much of an appetite for some reason so just ate a couple rye crackers then more raw cashews for bedtime snack. Not sure why I don't have an appetite. Must be sick or something.

Monday, 4 November 2013

Today was a totally scattered eating day. Not sure why. I had a lot of leftovers to take to work for lunch but didn't really feel like eating them. I grabbed an apple and handful of raw cashews for breakfast. For lunch I had the leftover chicken from last night with some steamed squash. I took a bite of the chicken and completely lost my appetite. I actually felt nauseated. Don't know what that was about. It seemed to be ok last night. I ate a bit of leftover greek salad.
Mid afternoon I ate 2 small packages of fat free chips of some sort that my colleague provided then ate 2 small pieces of pumpkin cake, just because it was there.
After work I ate a few dried apples and headed out for a long walk til after dark then ate another apple and dried pieces while filling the dehydrator. I am now eating 3 rye crackers with half an avocado.
I was thinking all month that the vegetarian lifestyle I was sort of living would make me gain weight. At the official end of month weigh in I had actually lost 6 pounds so maybe I will continue to live on beans and wheat and legumes and such for awhile. Its a cheap way to eat especially since I have so many beans and bags of wheat stored. Good little Mormon girl!

Sunday, 3 November 2013

After a peaceful Sabbath fast, I had m siblings over for a birthday pot luck dinner for my mom. I ate a small piece of chicken, a serving of steamed squash with butter, mashed potatoes, a sample of potato salad, greek salad, green salad, and broccoli salad. I topped it off with 2 pieces of carrot cake with cream cheese icing. That was it for today.

Saturday, 2 November 2013

I ate an apple and a handful of raw cashews this morning then headed out for a long walk in the rain. After drying off I made some lentil/flax pasta with sauce for lunch then pounded back another handful of dried apples. It probably adds up to 5 or 6 apples! I should never have a problem with keeping doctors away!
I forgot that I ate a green salad as well with my pasta. Busy afternoon, but had time for a carrot and orange.
Supper is quinoa with tomato sauce, an avocado and cup of fresh raspberries. I feel virtuous.

Friday, 1 November 2013

I am proud of myself that I did not give into all the chocolate treats at work today.
I had a scattered day as far as food goes though. I ate 2 apples for breakfast then didn't have time to eat again until having some ancient grain flax chips and rice crackers at noon.
Later I ate a bowl of spicy black bean soup and 2 oranges.
Then 2 pieces of cheese and some dried apples.
I saw whole grain lentil flax spaghetti on 50% off at the grocery store so I picked up all the packages left. I had pasta and low fat tomato sauce for supper then munched on more apples while I sliced and filled my dehydrator.

Thursday, 31 October 2013

Damn Halloween. Treats everywhere at work.
I started the day quiet nobly with an apple and handful of cashews and a flax whole grain bun.
Had another 2 of the same buns later with another apple.
Then 2 mandarin oranges and a piece of cheese. Things started to deteriorate with the arrival of home made boiled oatmeal cookies. I had 2. They were practically like porridge, right?
Then I had a handful of ancient grain with flax chips.
And after work I ate a handful of my home dried apple chips.
The CHIP snack tonight was apple crisp with some sort of sauce. Not sure what the sauce was.
I felt like I needed to do some good so I took a bag of apple chips to someone and gave them away.
After I got home I ate some more apple chips and now I am going to bed.

Wednesday, 30 October 2013

Breakfast: vector cereal with almond milk and handful of raw cashews. I don't usually have cereal in the house except when company is here so I had it leftover from then and it seemed to speak to me today.
Lunch:Quinoa pasta with tomato sauce and an apple.
Supper: turkey, cheese sandwich with multigrain bread and an apple. I was mad that I gained 2 pounds so blamed vegetarianism. When I am told that I can eat what I want I eat too much.
I had some dried apples as a bedtime snack.

Tuesday, 29 October 2013

Raw cashews and apple for breakfast.
Spicy black bean soup for lunch.
Bran muffin and orange for afternoon snack.
More raw cashews and a few dried currents.
CHIP snack was corn bread with pear sauce.
I ate too many apples and dried apples this evening while filling my dehydrator.

Monday, 28 October 2013

Breakfast: 1 orange, 1 apple, handful of raw cashews.
Lunch  spicy black bean soup with ounce of cheese
Snack—handful of trail mix and 2 pieces of cheese.
Supper: quinoa spaghetti with tomato sauce and an apple.
CHIP snack: veggie salad and 2 low fat oatmeal cookies.

Sunday, 27 October 2013

Spent the day driving home across BC. Breakfast was at IHOP -- whole grain and nut pancakes (2) with no sugar added syrup, banana and 2 scrambled egg whites.
Lunch was a foot long veggie subway (hey the foot longs were on special for $5.00. Otherwise I would have had a 6".  At the last stop home I got a hot chocolate to warm my soul during the stormy drive over the Kootenay pass.
I didn't really have supper except for 2 mandarin oranges when I got home.

Saturday, 26 October 2013

Langley: I just pounded back a protein fruit spinach smoothie and a rice krispie square. Don't judge me. There was sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and peanut butter in those squares. They are practically health food! And I ate a banana.
After getting groceries with my baby I ate another rice krispie square then headed for Vancouver.
Lunch was at a Vancouver sushi bar. I am not even going to try to list everything that I ate there, but I did NOT overeat on it. I had the vege box and quite a variety of rice and veggies and miso soup and such.
After a walk on the sea wall with old friends I headed off to watch another volleyball game. Had a couple handfuls of raw cashews, 2 apples and an orange.
Bedtime snack was another rice krispie square and now I am done for the day.

Friday, 25 October 2013

I spent the day driving across beautiful BC, the best place on earth. For breakfast I ate 3 pieces of toast with peanut butter and Oregon grape jelly. I ate a few pieces of dried apple while packing them to take to Alicia. Lunch was at Rock Creek sandwich stop. I had a turkey Havarti dill sandwich on a brown Kaiser bun and an apple.
At a pitstop in Hope I ate a cranberry bran muffin. Not sure why except that it was there and I was annoyed that they didn't have sugar free hot chocolate so I ate a muffin!
Dinner was in Langley, a harvest pecan salad and bedtime snack was a handful of roasted pumpkin seeds and now I am going to bed.

Thursday, 24 October 2013

Another fogged in day to work on resisting the urge to eat the fog away. For breakfast: 2 slices of multiple grain toast with peanut butter and home made Oregon grape jelly. And I sampled a few of the apples I have drying in my dehydrator. They're not quite crisp enough.
Lunch: Spicy black bean soup, and apple and green salad.
Afternoon snack: 3 pieces of cheese and another apple, 4 soda crackers and 4ow fat chips.
Evening snack at CHIP: lentil salad, bread and avocado. And lentils over polenta.

Wednesday, 23 October 2013

I am fighting the pull of the dark dreary days settling in for fall and winter. Food is calling me at every turn.
This morning I ate a bowl of boiled wheat with maple syrup and skim milk. Hopefully I will be able to conquer the feeding urges building up in my head.
2 apples and  2 pears during the  day and 3 pieces of cheese then an avocado sandwich. Somewhere in there I ate 2 rice crackers too,

Tuesday, 22 October 2013

I'm not sure if this is the breakfast of champions, but it feels virtuous while I am eating it: a bowl of boiled wheat berries (organic local wheat!) with some dried plums (also organic and local) some cinnamon, skim milk and maple syrup. feeling groovy.
Lunch was an avocado sandwich, tomato, and some squash that I extremely overcooked. After work I had 2 luna bars and 3 apples.
CHIP sample was scalloped potatoes with cashew sauce-- yummy, the ultimate comfort food.
Tonight I ate the last 2 luna bars (not going to buy them by the box again!) and I munched on apples while I sliced them and put them in my dehydrator.

Monday, 21 October 2013

Today's breakfast while driving to Nelson: avocado sandwich, 2 apples and a lemon luna bar.
Mid morning snack: 12 corn chips with salsa.
Lunch: 1/2 turkey veggie wrap.
Supper: another avocado sandwich, and luna bar.
CHIP sample: tofu stir-fry, orange wedges and a sprinkle of pomegranate.
And I sample some squash curie soup that I had in the slow cooker. it wasn't very good.

Sunday, 20 October 2013

I made a big pot of chili today to give away. I saved one bowl for myself which I ate for supper along with 2 slices of Mike's killer bread with avocado and tomato.
Dessert and evening snack was an apple and 2 luna lemon zest bars.

Saturday, 19 October 2013

Continuing to carb load at the Holiday Inn breakfast bar-- one banana, one bagel with peanut butter, 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and honey and a Yoplait yogurt. Ready to roll!
During the race I ate some energy gel (ugh to sweet) some energy gummies (not bad) and a cliff bar (big mistake-- made me nauseated a bit). I don't even know why I ate the cliff bar except that it was there in my pocket.
After the race I ate an orange wedge then had a bean and rice burrito with salsa and avocado.
After some shopping I ate a spirolina raw food bar that my friend gave me to try and that's it for now.
For supper I ate a bowl of squash bean soup, 2 slices of mikes killer bread and luna lemon bar for dessert. I am proud of myself for completing a half marathon today in 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Friday, 18 October 2013

Breakfast: boiled wheat with ground flax stevia and skim milk.
Snack-- handful of concord grapes and mixed nuts.
Lunch: Pasta and 2 ounces of cheese.
Supper: spaghetti with tomato sauce and garlic toast in the parking lot of Albertsons in Hayden -- a free carb loading feast for tomorrow's marathon.
Evening snack: 2 luna bars.

Thursday, 17 October 2013

A poor sleep last night didn't help my eating today. I started off ok with an apple and a bowl of cooked wheat and berries. Later I ate a handful of almonds and carrot sticks.
Lunch was a bowl of bean squash soup. Fatigue set in after lunch and my resolve for good food choices languished. It didn't help that options were everywhere. I ate 3 oatmeal muffins my colleague had made then 2 stale chocolate chip cookies that had been sitting there since last week. I was mad that the first one was stale so I ate the second one. Thankfully, that was all that was left.
After work I came home and had a nap then ate a couple apples while out walking.
The CHIP food tonight was soup samples. I had a sample of ginger carrot soup, leek potato soup, and Mediterranean bean soup-- all delicious.
And I forgot that I ate a few pumpkin seeds on my way out the door yesterday. Food, food, everywhere.

Wednesday, 16 October 2013

I didn't really follow my food plan well today due to rather hectic day at work. I had an apple in the morning then did not have a break until noon when I ate a green salad but called away part way through that. I grabbed 20 raw almonds and ate those along with 2 small pieces of cheddar cheese and another apple.
After work I went out for a long walk then went to TOPS to weigh in-- down much to my delight.
After the TOPS meeting I headed out to the grocery store to get some flax buns that I was fantasizing about. They had none so I came home, fried 3 eggs and ate them with a whole wheat wrap.
And that's the way it is.

Tuesday, 15 October 2013

I started the day with 2 apples and 12 almonds. That's what I had time for. Then I ate a bowl of squash bean soup on my coffee break. That kept me nourished until midafternoon when I ate 12 more almonds and another apple before heading out for my 2 hours walk.
Supper was a green salad, a few dried plums, and 2 slices of rye bread.
At the CHIP meeting I are a serving of beans and rice and a smaller serving of hummus with cilantro and corn and 2 pita chips. That's it for now.

Monday, 14 October 2013

I started the day with an apple then a bowl of boiled wheat berries with cinnamon, stevia, a banana and skim milk. Mid morning I ate another apple and 10 fiber gummies (I know, I know!) then headed out for a long walk on this beautiful fall day. I walked for almost 3 hours then ate a bowl of the most delicious squash, beans, and brown rice soup with a dollop of 1% cottage cheese. I am quite pleased with my creation this morning.
And then I polished off the rest of the fiber gummies (about a dozen!-- thanks goodness they're gone and I will never buy them again).
Supper was a green salad with garbanzo beans and a bowl of potato soup with 3 pieces of rye bread.
More fiber added tonight at the CHIP meeting-- carrots and celery with cashew dip and bean dip--then I ate a small handful of trail mix because it was in my car.

Sunday, 13 October 2013

Sunday fast until the supper hour. Then I had bowl of potato soup (my sister is visiting and made it) and a flax bun and a half then a banana and apple. That's it for now. I bypassed the homemade lemon tarts (another treat made by me sister).
Evening snack while visiting with my sister: 3 cups of smartfood cheddar popcorn and an apple.

Saturday, 12 October 2013

I almost forgot to record my food today. Breakfast was a bowl of brown rice with dried plums, chopped apple, cinnamon, ground flax and skim milk late in the morning after a long walk.
Later I roasted some squash seeds and ate a few but not many because I burned them.
An apple sometime in the afternoon, then a flax whole grain bun.
Supper was turkey breast, mashed potatoes, squash, and a large green salad.

Friday, 11 October 2013

Random acts of eating made the food day different than I had planned.
2 apples in the morning then a bowl of brown rice and mixed berries.
I added an orange at lunch then a turkey cheese sandwich with multigrain bread.
After work I grabbed a handful of reduced fat wheat thins then headed out for a long walk.
More wheat thins, a small vegan patty and small serving of quinoa salad. Then I ate a large green salad with garbanzo beans.

Thursday, 10 October 2013

Today I actually got started on the CHIP plan.  Today was a day of just fruit and whole grains. I have eaten 3 apples, a bowl of boiled wheat with dried fruit, a prune I picked up off the ground while out walking, an orange and a few raisons. That was it.

Wednesday, 9 October 2013

Damn food blog-- now I have to own up to everything I ate today on my 58th birthday. It started out innocent enough given that I had to be on the road early so I ate an apple and handful of almonds for the road.
I had a bran muffin mid morning provided at the meeting.
Lunch was also a freebie at Hotshots. I ate a Kootenay Rockies salad-- greens, cheese, chicken, dried cranberries, and 5 pita crisps.
I didn't eat again until after my weigh in which was at 6 pm then I had an apple and went to another meeting where food was available. I ate some delicious Caesar salad, one piece of pizza, a piece of pumpkin cake, and carrot cake. From there I went to the movie "The Butler". I ate a bag of popcorn (not bucket) then finished the night off with a piece of apple cake. Hey! It was my birthday!
Oops I forgot to mention the skinny cow ice-cream bar my friend gave me.

Tuesday, 8 October 2013

After a restless night of rumbling fiber gummies in my gut I awaken a weary though wiser woman today. Hopefully I won't eat 10 fiber gummies again in one sitting. I think that I will not buy them again. They seem to be another sweet substance that I can't manage. I wonder if there is anything I CAN manage.
My breakfast today was a bowl of boiled wheat with ground flax and dried apricots and raisons with skim milk. Is that not a breakfast of champions of some sort?
And now the day is done and this is what I ate: several pieces of fresh cantaloupe, a bowl of chili and 15 jalapeno cheddar crisps for lunch.
2 apples while out for a walk (I pick up the windfalls this time of year as I walk and call it my daily manna).
At the CHIP meeting I ate a small sample of boiled grains with dates and raisons.
When I got home I had a handful of almonds, hazelnuts, and pumpkin seeds then 2 calcium chews.
No fiber gummies today!

Monday, 7 October 2013

My breakfast this morning is a bowl of boiled wheat garnished with ground flax, mixed berries, and skim milk. Never underestimate the power of peristalsis.
And then for a mid morning snack I had a clump of concord grapes and 4 dried figs at work.
Lunch was a chicken breast and veggie salad and 2 ounces of cheddar cheese.
In the afternoon I ate 2 apples then after work went for a long 2 hour walk. I was starving when I got in from my walk but needed to shower to get ready for my first CHIP (complete health program) meeting. So I scarfed down 4 calcium chews along with 10 fiber gummies then a handful of trail mix.
At the meeting I had fresh fruit kabobs. Just got home and am eating another handful of trail mix. Be still my rumbling gut.

Sunday, 6 October 2013

When I put on my vest to go for a walk this afternoon I found the wrappers for the granola bars I ate while walking yesterday and realized I had eaten 4 of them rather than the 3 I reported. Eating is bad for short term memory.

Today I had a fast until after 5 p.m. I try to do this regularly for spiritual purposes, not weight loss. So my first meal of the day was supper and I had a chicken breast and vegetable salad. Dessert was a Kashi granola bar and a handful of trail mix.  And' I ate a spoonful of boiled beans. I was just testing them to see if they taste too burned to put in the chili I am making for a work luncheon. I had left the beans cooking while I went to church and 2 hours later they had boiled dry so that's why I ate a spoonful. They're not bad so I put them in the chili. They gave it a bit of smoky flavor.
And now I ate another Kashi bar, the last one in the house so I should be good now.

Saturday, 5 October 2013

Eating is done for another day. For supper I had a chicken breast and a piece of salmon cooked in lemon spice then a cucumber, tomato, pepper, and purple onion salad.
After 2 hours of running/walking I ate a handful of trail mix then a Kashi granola bar. After another hour I ate another 2 Kashi granola bars (they taste somewhat like cardboard. I stopped at a friend's place for water and had a bit of tomato soup. I was too exhausted to eat more than a couple bites. She gave me some Motrin and drove me home. I managed 4 hours but have decided that a half marathon is a better option for me this year rather than a full marathon.
Yeah,a day off at home. I had 2 muffins and 3 fried eggs for breakfast. I am now heading out for a marathon walk to prepare for my real marathon in 2 weeks.

Friday, 4 October 2013

I got called in early to work so didn’t have the awesome breakfast I had planned in my head.
Breakfast was a slice of flaxseed rye bread with swiss cheese (I  know I am feeling insecure by all the bread and cheese I am eating!)
And I added 2 oatmeal nut, blueberry muffins that my house guest brought for me.
I ate while driving to work.
Lunch was a bowl of canned lentil soup—lots of fiber and not much fat.
Throughout the day I nibbled on concord grapes, an  apple, 2 dried figs and a generous handful of potato thin fins (only 80 calories in 15).
And I had a handful of plain almonds late afternoon.
Hey, if you only knew the food and treats I was exposed to today you would admire me for my restraint.
After a long walk I ate another 2 muffins with 2 slices of swiss cheese (light) and called it a day.

Thursday, 3 October 2013

Another scattered day because I didn’t take time to prepare proper meals.
Breakfast—flaxrye bread sandwich with swiss cheese.
Lunch— a pile of raw veggies, broccoli, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, carrots, cauliflower and dip (available at my work place), a few local grapes also sitting at my workplace.
People bring nurses a lot of goodies and today seemed to be a day full of food gifts. I avoided the fat sweet ones and opted for the more nutritious ones so I feel virtuous about that.
I had a piece of laughing cow cheese sometime in the afternoon and an apple then tried to walk away from the food. I didn’t have time to actually have lunch so just munched on veggies.
Late afternoon I had a handful of almonds then pistachios, then a handful of low fat cheese crackers and another apple.
Thankfully I left work and the food behind at 4:30 pm and have not eaten anything since (except 2 calcium chews and 4 fiber gummies) so my digestive system is ready for sleep.

Wednesday, 2 October 2013

After my weigh in (which was up ) I ate another flax rye bread sandwich with Swiss cheese and fiber 1 bar. I am done for the day, exhausted and ready to sleep.
Today I was out of town for education and my eating was not well planned.

Early morning with rushed breakfast-- flaxseed and rye bread with Swiss cheese and a fiber 1 bar.
Another fiber 1 bar a couple hours later then some fresh fruit salad (raspberries, strawberries, melons, cantaloupe, pineapple.
Lunch was pepparoni pizza (provided at the seminar). I had 3 slices of the greasy, salty, fat stuff. And some raw veggies and dip.
That was my last meal. And since I am waiting to do my TOPS weigh in tonight, I am not going to eat again until after. I have not weighed for 3 weeks as I have been away. Not sure what the scale will tell, but I feel slim and fit.
And the fiber 1 bars are talking to me.

Tuesday, 1 October 2013

Lunch was chili (I made this big pot of chili a couple weeks ago and froze the leftovers. It is going a long way this week to keep me fed while I wait for time to get groceries.
5 more gin gins (thank goodness that’s the end of the bag!). 2 spartan apples fresh from someone’s tree in Creston. There’s nothing like a fresh Spartan apple picked from a tree in Creston this time of year.
Handful of trail mix (generous handful) while impatiently waiting for someone.
2 calcium chews. I pretend they are candy.
After all that I went for a lovely long walk. Supper was a sandwich made with flaxseed rye bread and light swiss cheese then a fiber 1 bar for dessert.
Where I sit in my dining room I have an exquisite view of the Skimmerhorn mountains to the east and I can see the sun trying to break through the clouds as it rises over the highest peak. There is hope and light on the horizon.
I am eating scrambled egg whites (4 with one yolk) with spinach, tomatoes, peppers and onions blended with extra virgin olive oil. I feel totally virtuous and moral and upright eating such a breakfast to start my day. Besides that, I am eating off a plate which has a scripture emblazoned on it--Lamentations 3:23. Great is His faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
My soul is being fed this day. I have asked a blessing of God that what I eat will bring energy, health and beauty to my soul. And that I will use the energy derived from this food to bless the lives of those I encounter this day.

Monday, 30 September 2013

After being away for 10 days and getting home late last night, I didn't really have a lot of speedy food options for today. I headed off to work with a handful of almonds and a pear. That was breakfast chased down with 2 gin gins. For a midmorning snack I ate an apple and 2 more gin gins. Then I had a bowl of chili for lunch, chased down with 2 more gin gins ( they're almost all gone so I won't buy more as they seem to be an addictive substance for me).
I had a late supper while visiting a friend who brought out her leftovers for me-- roast chicken and squash. That's all for now.

Sunday, 29 September 2013

This has been a full day road trip and the food kind of reflects that on the run feeling. Started off grabbing a pear and apple and banana to eat on the road.
A few hours of driving later and I stopped for a snack-- bran muffin and pumpkin seeds.
After another few hours I stopped for a sandwich-- turkey, cheese, and lettuce on a brown Kaiser bun.
Another couple hours and I stopped for gas. An almond chocolate ice-cream bar jumped into my arms along with a hot chocolate. Not sure how that happened but maybe had something to do with the dark dreary day?
Now I am home and saw that I had a bag of gin gins on the kitchen cupboard so I ate 2 of them. My teeth are now flossed and brushed, a signal to my brain that eating is done for today.
Tomorrow is fresh with no binges in it.
I had supper at White Spot with family and an old friend from high school days. I had a lifestyle chicken burger on multigrain bun with a side salad and that was the end of eating for this day at 6 pm. Despite some frustration with the day I did not resort to food to cover my feelings. I allowed them all to be acknowledged and prayed to have the most disturbing ones removed. Food will not fill the empty hole of saying goodbye to my children.

Saturday, 28 September 2013

I am now eating a slice of zucchini nut loaf. Yum.
Pouring rain in Langley today. Perfect shopping weather so off we went. My daughter got the rain boots of her dreams half price (The North Face) polka dots and I got an awesome brown rain coat also half price. Back for lunch-- a generous bowl of hamburger vegetable soup with cottage cheese ( a personal family tradition) and 2 fresh pears. Then chasing it down with some pure peppermint tea.
Rainy days usually make we want to hunker down and eat, but I am going to shop instead. I may be too broke to buy food so that will also help me lose weight!
I just had a late breakfast lovingly prepared by my daughter-- scrambled eggs with chicken bacon, potatoes, corn, and avocado. I am set for the day and some more shopping before heading off for more world class volleyball. Hey, shopping is NOT fattening!

Friday, 27 September 2013

And I just added a banana to my daily food. I know its late but I'm hungry.
I missed supper because I was out shopping (PRIORITIES people!) then I went straight to the volleyball game. When I realized that I was hungry, the only option I had was the sports concession which does not have salads or anything that really resembles real food. So I opted for a hotdog and bag of popcorn. Pathetic I know, but that was it for tonight. Awesome volleyball (meaning Canada won). Just got back so am eating an apple. That's it for food today.
Lunch was 4 pieces of zucchini nut load. That's what I felt like eating.
oops, I forgot to mention the 2 gin gins I ate first thing this morning.
Breakfast at Denny's this morning. I ordered the fit slam-- scrambled egg whites with veggies, 2 strips of turkey bacon, an English muffin and a bowl of fresh fruit. Good to go til lunch.

Thursday, 26 September 2013

Ugh, I ate too much, all good food but too much just the same. It started with sampling while cooking. I roasted squash seeds from the squash I cooked then ate most of those-- about a handful or 2. Then by the time dinner was ready I was already full but ate with the crowd. Roast potatoes, baked salmon, squash, and spinach salad. I am officially too full and heading out to watch another volleyball game. Food, glorious food.
I am making dinner for my daughter and her roommates. I ate a couple of strawberries while making a salad and I ate a few bites of the rosemary roasting potatoes. Yum. I didn't feel any need to sample the spinach, however.
Lunch was a taco loco chicken salad at Sharks courtesy of my son. Now, time for a nap before preparing supper for the girls then off to another volleyball game. Its a beautiful day in Langley and all is well in my world.
Breakfast was a veggie egg frittata at White Spot. I snuck one bite of my daughter's crispy smashbrown. And I just remembered that I had a bite of a chocolate zucchini loaf yesterday. It was in my line of vision so I grabbed a bite.
And now I am eating an apple after doing some shopping with family. If I can't eat, I am going to shop!

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

Mom and I went to a White Spot for supper. I had a spicy chicken Caesar salad and a side order of sweet potato fries. Mom ordered a greasy poutine burger then said she wasn't hungry so I put it in my purse and off we went to watch volleyball. Canada beat Mexico tonight and I did not eat that burger sitting in my purse even though it crossed my mind a few times. Thankfully it didn't cross my lips. Got home now at 10 pm hungry so I had an apple and a peach. The burger is tucked away in the fridge for mom tomorrow. And I just ate a gin gin for dessert. I am now shutting down my digestive system until tomorrow.
So I had a couple turkey franks and a carrot for lunch. I was a bit rushed because I was supposed to meet a friend at the temple and lollygagged too long so my meal wasn't really a meal. It was something I grabbed and ate on the way to the temple. It is now 4:41 and my mom and I are heading out to find a meal then off to the NORCECA volleyball games.
I had an  epiphany this morning while going to the car to get my curlers. I am in Langley, BC for this week watching my son's  @NORCECA volleyball tournament, so I am out of my normal element and getting another perspective on life.
That has nothing to do with my epiphany which is that I am going to write a blog of everything I eat just because such a habit will make me aware of what I eat. I've tried food journals before but never really kept them up for any length of time because as soon as I ate something I perceived as "bad" or "not on my diet" I would simply quit writing. How simple is that! I could do that now except that I am not going to. This is different. Its public and I am starting it on a Wednesday at noon because I have already forgotten what I ate this morning.
My daughter just reminded me of what I ate this morning-- at least what she saw me eat.
So this is it based on her and my memory.
Breakfast: fat free Greek yogurt with honey and a banana, two pieces of whole grain toast with butter, two eggs fried in butter (bad girl!), an apple I ate on the way to the car to get my curlers, and 3 or 4 gin gins.
If you must eat excessively, do it in the morning!
